One of the things that makes us unique is that we are a volunteer-driven organization. We have many opportunities to serve both at our retreat center in Scottsville and at the Community Center in Louisville! We welcome families with kids of all ages to join us and we also offer many service opportunities for school groups, Bible studies, teams, and corporate groups! You can make an immediate life-changing impact in the lives of special needs families.
A short-term mission trip is defined as “the mobilization of Christians to share the love of Christ with others in their own city, state, country, or across the world.” A weekend spent serving at Barren Heights truly is a free family mission trip! Each weekend, there are four volunteer families that serve three guest families. As a volunteer host family, your role is essentially that of a camp counselor! There will be age appropriate jobs assigned to each volunteer, but your main role is simply to make sure the guest families have the best weekend ever!
Do you know a family that has a child with physical or developmental disabilities? Do you know a family looking for opportunities to serve together? Send them our way! We are always looking for new families to join the Barren Heights community!
We know that we cannot create more compassionate communities alone. In order to make an impact, we need business and community impact partners! It is our goal to partner with local, like minded businesses and organizations in a way that is mutually beneficial. We know this is not a one size fits all, and we are committed to working with you to personalize a partnership that will meet your company’s and employee’s goals and needs. The impact of our partnership will be felt from the top down! The ideas below are just that – ideas. We look forward to collaborating with you in this Kingdom work!
Recent research and trends report that nonprofit partnership could impact sales, corporate social responsibility, employee satisfaction, and marketing.
We want you to feel connected, invested, and eager to share. The best way to make a sustainable impact in the lives of special needs families is to give monthly.
Monthly giving enables us to spend less time and money on things like planning, fundraising, and administration. With the time and money saved, we can focus more of our resources on our mission to love and encourage families who have kids with disabilities.
Fundraising is not the most important thing we do, but it is necessary. Much of our work depends on a reliable source of funds to ensure there are no gaps in the services we provide.
Monthly giving is easy and convenient for you! For many donors, small amounts of regular giving can be easier to plan for. We offer a variety of different payment options so you can choose what works best for your family.
We call our monthly donors our Barren Heights “Boosters.” As a Booster, you will receive quarterly giving statements, insider ministry updates, and a special monthly touch point sharing stories about the incredible impact of your continued generosity.
We invite you to stay connected to what’s going on at Barren Heights! You will receive inspirational stories, ministry updates, event information, lots of fun pictures, and more!
