2024 Spring Campaign
Launching into 20 Years of Barren Heights!
May 6–16, 2024
Barren Heights has served families of children with disabilities for 20 years through FREE family retreats and inclusive community events. We often see surprised faces when we explain how everything we do is absolutely free to our families. Free meals. Free private cabin stay. Free entertainment. Free opportunities to build community. No parent or child has to pay to experience what we do here at Barren Heights, because we have a loving and generous community that offers their financial support.
We are asking YOU to partner with us as we aim to raise $20,000 and gain 20 new monthly donors of $20 or more in celebration of 20 years of Barren Heights! Would you support us with a monthly gift of $20? A one-time gift of $200? Maybe even more? Every gift counts!
Will you prayerfully consider supporting our campaign?

What Will Your Gift Do?
PROGRAMS
At Barren Heights, 74% of our operating budget goes to programming. That means 74 cents of every dollar you give puts a smile on a weary mother’s face, brings out a laugh in a child as they safely play on the playground just like the other kids, gives a married couple the first date they’ve had in years, and so much more. This year, we will host 19 retreats in Scottsville and more than 26 community events in the Louisville area! This includes everything from Men’s Topgolf to Ice Cream at the Park to Mom’s Night Out. And all of these events are COMPLETELY FREE to our guest families. FREE! Because of your financial support, our families can have new, fun, safe, and accessible experiences without adding any financial burden to their already heavy plates. We love being able to add value to the lives of our families!
FACILITIES
We are able to host retreats and community events at no cost to our families because grants and donations allow us to maintain and improve our spaces. Serving families for 20 years is a huge milestone, but it also means that our Retreat Center facilities are aging and need more maintenance each year. This year, we will replace our New Barn HVAC system, pave our musical playground to increase accessibility, and complete the Lodge—our brand-new multipurpose building that will provide a serious upgrade for our volunteer housing and allow us to potentially extend our retreat season and give us the ability to host more year-round events. Our generous community makes projects like these possible! You can learn more about the Lodge and our ongoing brick fundraiser at barrenheights.org/lodge.
Why Giving Monthly Matters
One of our major Spring Campaign goals is to gain 20 new monthly donors or as we like to call them, “Boosters”! And here are just a few reasons why Boosters really are an integral part of Barren Heights:
Reduced Costs
Monthly giving enables us to spend less time and money on things like planning, fundraising, and administration. With the time and money saved, we can focus more of our resources on our mission to love and encourage families who have kids with disabilities.
Sustainability
Fundraising is not the most important thing we do, but it is necessary. Much of our work depends on a reliable source of funds to ensure there are no gaps in the services we provide. We have been changing lives for 20 years, and we want to go another 20 and beyond!
A Win-Win for You!
Monthly giving is easy and convenient for you! For many donors, small amounts of regular giving can be easier to plan for in family budgets. We offer a variety of different payment options so you can choose what best works for your family. Thus a win-win for everyone!
Exclusive Booster Program
We call our monthly donors our Barren Heights Boosters. As a Booster, you will receive quarterly giving statements, insider ministry updates, and a special monthly touchpoint sharing stories so that you understand the incredible impact of your continued generosity.
Adopt-A-Box
On average, it costs around $800 for one family to attend a Barren Heights weekend retreat which covers everything from their meals and snacks to their lodging. A fun way you can help us send 5 guest families to a Barren Heights summer weekend retreat at no cost to them is to participate in our 2024 Spring Campaign Adopt-A-Box! Participants donate whatever amount of their choosing that is available on the Adopt-A-Box board. By clearing the board with every box “adopted”, we will have raised $4,200 which will cover all expenses for 5 guest families to attend a retreat this summer! Will you help us clear the board?
