Community Center Volunteer – At the Barren Heights Community Center in Louisville there are tons of ways to get involved, individually or as a family. We desire to connect your gifts, talents and passions to our mission. We have needs of all kinds ranging from cleaning, administration, hospitality, activity prep, hosting special family events and more. Some roles require a background check and referral.
Co-host a Retreat as a Family – Do you enjoy the outdoors, playing games with new friends, and serving together as a family? From May thru October, we host weekend retreats for families who have children with physical and intellectual disabilities. Come and be a part of these fun weekend retreats, by serving these wonderful families. Being a Host family will require completing our application process with a referral/background check and a panel review. barrenheights.org/schedule
Volunteer to Work during Spring or Fall Work Days – Various tasks are completed ranging from camp clean-up to skilled construction. Your Group or Family can Tackle a Simple Beautification Project – We always have landscaping, painting, and cleaning needs that must be addressed mid-week when retreats are not in session.
Prayer Team – Our Prayer Warriors commit to praying for specific and general requests.
Guest Love Team – This new volunteer team focuses on little details that enhance the guest experience at the Family Retreats such as providing home baked goodies. The “Guest Love” volunteers also help maintain relations with families after they attend a weekend retreat with sweet gestures like sending Christmas cards and unexpected gifts or notes of encouragement.
Special Events Volunteer – We are always looking for committee members to assist with planning the Benefit Auction, Pancake Breakfast, Family Fun Run, etc.
Ministry Team Member – The following teams typically meet bi-monthly (Community Outreach, Compliance, Finance, Fundraising, Human Resources, Marketing, Programming & Facilities.)
