“My friend Megan first told me about Barren Heights. I was excited to meet other families, but I was nervous about how Emma would handle being away from home. I was also nervous about how she would interact with the other kids. My first impression when we arrived was…Beautiful. I felt like I could feel God as soon as we turned in and saw the area. The first night we were really nervous and I guess awkward. But the second day, after the boat ride, I think we all started to relax. Shooting the water balloons and the hay ride was when we really let go.
Barren Heights is special because our family was able to connect with each other and talk about our faith and it’s place in our family in ways we haven’t before. Emma was able to be herself. She could yell, squeak, run and play without judgement. Even have a meltdown without people staring or judging us as parents. It was perfect. “
